چکیده

We investigate passive radar imaging of aircraft using re ected TV signals. Such passive multistatic \radar" has been developed to detect and track aircraft with good accuracy. The additional capability of image formation would help to identify targets. The Fourier space sampling provided by passive radar is nonuniform. For a given aircraft ight path, di erent receiver locations give rise to di erent sampling patterns. We simulate multistatic radar returns using Fast Illinois Solver Code (FISC) and show that a good sampling pattern can be used to form a recognizable target image using direct Fourier reconstruction. However, a bad sampling pattern can make it impossible to form a useful image. In the Gaithersburg, MD area, we can select a good receiver location using 21 or fewer channels, which provides good enough Fourier-space coverage to form a useful aircraft image.

Region-Enhanced Passive Radar Imaging

We adapt and apply a recently-developed region-enhanced synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image reconstruction technique to the problem of passive radar imaging. One goal in passive radar imaging is to form images of aircraft using signals transmitted by commercial radio and television stations that are reflected from the objects of interest. This involves reconstructing an image from sparse sampl...

Multistatic passive radar imaging using the smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution

We investigate passive radar imaging of aircraft using reflected TV signals. We apply a Smoothed Pseudo WignerVille Distribution (SPWVD)-based SAR imaging algorithm to two different scenarios. In the first simulation, multistatic VHF-band dataset generated by Fast Illinois Solver Code (FISC) is used. In the second simulation, a more realistic simulated passive radar dataset is used. A set of in...

Multifrequency and Multistatic Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar, with Application to FM Passive Radar

This paper deals with the imaging of a moving target using a multifrequency and multistatic radar consisting in one receiver and several narrowband transmitters. Considering two hypotheses about the studied target, we derive two multistatic inverse synthetic aperture radar processors: the first one, which models the target as a set of isotropic points, performs a coherent sum of bistatic images...
